The Walnut Room

The Walnut Room

Designed as a space to gather, this 450-square-foot addition transformed the back of a Milford home into a warm and inviting three-season space. The family envisioned a cozy place for meals, conversation and connection—somewhere that felt distinct from the rest of the house, yet naturally integrated.

Replacing a portion of their wraparound farmer’s porch, the new room blends the comfort of cabin-inspired design with refined craftsmanship. Walls and ceilings are finished in bead-accented pine tongue-and-groove boards, and large windows surround the space, filling it with natural light throughout the day. At the center of the room sits a handcrafted black walnut dining table, built from live-edge slabs and anchored directly into structural hemlock posts—doubling as both a design focal point and a centerpiece for family gatherings.
